How to Opt-Out of LinkedIn’s Generative AI Training on Your Account
Since LinkedIn didn’t want to make a big fuss about it………….
As one of the most popular professional networking platforms, LinkedIn might need a corporate retreat of its own to learn some business ethics.
According to this PC Mag article by Kate Irwin, LinkedIn accounts were automatically opted in to having their data and content used for generative AI training. Due to privacy laws and internet regulations in the EU and UK users registered in these countries are opted out automatically. But as for the rest of us, here is a brief rundown of the essentials.
First, here is a peek at the LinkedIn website’s help page for information about the AI training for users:
As with most features on LinkedIn, when you engage with our platform we collect and use (or process) data about your use of the platform, including personal data. This could include your use of the generative AI (AI models used to create content) or other AI features, your posts and articles, how frequently you use LinkedIn, your language preference, and any feedback you may have provided to our teams.
Further down, LinkedIn discloses that opting-out now only prevents future content from being soylent greened.
